Gilmore Community Project is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering inner-city youth through mentorship, personal development, and life-enrichment opportunities. Drawing inspiration from his upbringing in Baltimore City, founder Derrious C. Gilmore established Gilmore Community Project to create pathways for youth to overcome challenges, build confidence, and reach their full potential. Through structured programming focused on leadership, accountability, character development, and community engagement, the organization equips youth with the tools needed to succeed in school, careers, and life. Its mission is rooted in creating positive, lasting impact in underserved communities.
While Gilmore Community Project was officially established as a nonprofit in 2026, its work began long before then. In 2014, Derrious started investing his own time, money, and community resources to provide free summer basketball training sessions, mentorship, and positive youth development opportunities for young people throughout Baltimore. What began as a grassroots effort steadily grew through years of consistent service, relationship-building, and community engagement. Today, Gilmore Community Project continues that commitment through strategic partnerships with organizations such as Beyond Health, Open Bible House of Prayer, and local schools, expanding its reach and impact across the
communities it serves.
